Love wildflowers and want to be under the crest of a wave without drowning or getting your camera wet? Then this is the tour for you!
Western Australia is home to some unusual sights one of which is Wave Rock. It is a huge monolith striped granite rock with an unusual wave formation formed by centuries of rain and wind situated some four hour drive from Perth. This area is also famous for it’s Spring Wildflowers even at the base of the rock you can find tiny orchids although they have a very short season. In Spring (late August to October) there is always different flowers coming and going but it is hard to predict what will be out at any given time but as there are around 2500 species known to be in the area I am sure we will find something worth photographing.
This option is available between July- October departing on selected Mondays, although we can customise a private tour to your dates with notice. Our itinerary is the same as our regular Wave Rock trip but we extend our time so we can take our time stopping to search for the Wildflowers. We will be exploring other photographic themes apart from macro, at Noble Falls we will have fun with some long exposures and enjoy the landscape of the Wheatbelt and country towns such as York and Corrigin. If we have clear skies at night we will be able to do some astrophotography.
Day two we will visit Hippo Yawn and Mulka’s Cave, which is covered in aboriginal hand print art and explore local areas known for orchids and wildflowers, many of which are unique to the area.
Day three we return the Perth via the Tin Horse Highway, which shows Australian country humour and ingenuity, 70 or more horse sculptures made of oil drums and scrap metal either side of the town of Kulin, home to an annual bush horse race.
All levels of photography are catered for from beginner to professional, point and press cameras to the latest DLSR model. Tripods can be hired if required.
We usually stay at the Wave Rock Resort, a collection of 2 bedroom/ one bathroom cottages.
Rooms are twin or Triple share but a single supplement applies if you want your own room (not ensuite)
